Here we go again…..
Let me give you a scenario – you go into your Seller Central account and you want to replenish FBA inventory for your top (or brand new) product listing. You create a shipment the same size as you usually do and you expect it to go through, as it always does. But this time, maybe Amazon only lets you send part of that shipment in, or maybe they don’t let you ship in anything at all. You call seller support and they tell you that they’ll look into it and 3 -5 business days later they finally give you the reason.
We want to save you some time, so here’s the short of it... Amazon has implemented their restocking restrictions again, this time it is also attached to a new, raised “Inventory Performance Index" (IPI). The IPI target has been raised from 400 to 500, which will be effective August 16, 2020 through the end of the year.
We won’t bore you with all of the details of Amazon’s new restocking policies (check your inbox for an email from the Amazon team if you haven't already, the email is titled "Changes as we prepare for a successful peak (US)”) – this post is to let you know that the programmers at SalesDash have worked very hard to integrate the restocking limits into SalesDash’s inventory tools. We know how important inventory levels are, and with the holidays coming up it’s time to start planning ahead.
In SalesDash’s inventory views you will see columns titled “Max Shipment Quantity” and “Max Inventory Level”. Our calculations for “Max Shipment Quantity” factor in all your inventory at every stage (pending, in transit, etc.) when determining how much inventory you can ship. Please note that these “Max” numbers update frequently, so you may see something one minute that isn’t there the next… that’s Amazon for you.
Easily identify restocking issues: In cases where your safety stock determines that SalesDash suggested “units needed” is higher than the amount allowed by Amazon (reflected in “Max Shipment Quantity” column) the “Max Shipment Quantity” number will be highlighted in red – making it easy to see where you may run into restocking issues.
We hope that this tool is as valuable to you as we believe it will be.
If you aren’t on the SalesDash platform already and access to these tools is something you’re interested in, please send an email to sales@salesdash.com and we will send you instructions on how to sign up for your 30-Day, risk-free (seriously, no credit card required) trial.
